Paolo and the Magnificent, the comparison

I happened to rewatch this clip from Fight Club, one of my favorite movies, and I thought:
“Oh my God, this could be the comparison between me (Paolo) and my alter ego (The Magnificent)!”
I chose this nickname many years ago when I ventured into the world of online dating with all the insecurities of a man who had only been with one woman for 20 years.

“Will they like me?”, “Will I be able to be interesting?” and a thousand other insecurities that led – as compensation – to the creation of this seemingly super confident and super cool alter-ego, the Magnificent.
In reality, the most important lesson I learned after a few months is that the true superpower in interacting with others (especially women) is authenticity.
In fact, paradoxically, the more I expressed my vulnerabilities, my sensitivity, my insecurities… the more I connected with the other person, the more she opened up, got involved, became attached.
For years now, all the girls I meet tell me they feel immediately connected, that they’re telling me things they usually never share, that they open up because I’m the first to open up.
Today, in my encounters, I am both Paolo and the Magnificent, in a completely authentic, fused, and natural way.
“So why do you keep signing with the nickname Magnificent?” Because it makes me laugh too much 🙂

if you HAVEN’T seen Fight Club, DON’T watch this video! (spoiler)

P.S.

I want the fur coat like Brad Pitt too!
