Xmas Lady: Seen Through Her Eyes: Meeting the MagnificenT

X

It was Christmas when Magnificent and I met. He chose a beautiful spot in New York, and when I first met him in person, he fit the bill—attractive, Italian, and, most importantly, confident. There was an ease to him which I really appreciated.

In some ways, he felt familiar. We connected over my Italian–New York background and his Italian heritage in Italy. What truly intrigued me, though, was how attuned he seemed to me—something that also made me a little nervous. In dating, I tend to reveal very little about myself while the other person shares everything. Magnificent, however, seemed to know me without me having to explain myself which felt refreshing.

During the date we spoke about love—our experiences with it, and our ideas about it. He having discovered love later in life and I stumbling into it when I was young had opposite experiences yet we both had came to the same conclusion which is something that lingered with me and still does.

A few days later, we both decided to see each other again—this time in Miami. The days together felt very natural, as if we fell into a rhythm. I loved his humor and the music he played while we were getting ready to go out. I also loved watching him—(my guilty pleasure)—stealing glances while he worked or while we sat at the beach. When I like someone, I tend to watch them. I think he caught me doing just that on New Year’s. When our eyes met, it felt as though he knew exactly what I was thinking (I’m convinced he’s psychic). Nevertheless, that night remains vivid in my memory.

Meeting him was truly a pleasant surprise. And when the time came for us to part, it was bittersweet. I found myself hoping that our paths would cross again.
